On June 17-18, 2024, the Commercial Law Development Program (CLDP) of the U.S. Department of Commerce, in collaboration with the Intellectual Property Office of the Republic of Armenia, organized a Public-Private Roundtable in Yerevan, Armenia, focused on improving the protection and enforcement of intellectual property rights (IPR). The event gathered representatives from the Armenian government, business leaders, attorneys, and IPR holders, providing a platform for dialogue with international and regional experts about the current challenges facing IPR in Armenia.

During the roundtable, government officials, business leaders, and IPR holders discussed their views on the existing legal and regulatory framework and the enforcement challenges they encountered. International experts contributed by presenting on global and regional IPR developments and best practices, and they emphasized the connections between IPR, public health and safety, and economic growth.

The roundtable seeks to boost coordination and cooperation among key stakeholders in the IP field. Additionally, it aims to produce a set of recommendations for reforming Armenia’s IP protection system. If implemented, these recommendations will support the Armenian government's efforts to enhance the national IP protection system by strengthening the legal and regulatory framework and improving institutional capacity.
