From May 13 to 15, 2025, the Third Global Summit on Intellectual Property and Access to Medicines, titled “TRIPS@30: The Access Crisis,” was held in Marrakesh, Kingdom of Morocco. A representative from the Intellectual Property Office of the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Armenia participated in the summit.
The event was organized by the International Treatment Preparedness Coalition (ITPC) NGO and representatives of the “Make Medicines Affordable” (MMA) campaign.
The summit agenda included discussions on the 30 years of implementation experience of the Agreement on Trade-Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights (TRIPS), the legal reforms carried out within its framework, as well as the opportunities and challenges in ensuring access to medicines for public health purposes.
During the event, the Armenian representative delivered a presentation addressing the recent amendments to the Law on Patents of the Republic of Armenia, aimed at improving access to essential medicines.
The summit served as an important platform for the exchange of international experience and the strengthening of cooperation. As a result of the discussions, global-level challenges were identified - such as financial crises, armed conflicts, and environmental issues - and steps were proposed to develop comprehensive legal reforms at the international, regional, and national levels.
Address: 5/1 M. Mkrtchyan, Yerevan 0010
