From March 16 to 18, 2026, in the city of Alicante, Kingdom of Spain, a meeting of representatives of the beneficiary countries of the “EU4IP” program, funded by the European Union and implemented by the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO), was held, with participation from representatives of the Republic of Armenia, Ukraine, and the Republic of Moldova.
The delegation of the Republic of Armenia was headed by the Deputy Minister of Economy of the RA Anushik Avetyan. The delegation also included representatives of other state bodies of the Republic of Armenia, who are beneficiaries of the “EU4IP” program.
The meeting opened with a speech by the Deputy Minister of Economy of the RA, who presented ongoing reforms in the field of intellectual property and the government’s priorities, including emphasizing that the development of the intellectual property system is a strategic priority for the government, given its important role in promoting innovation, economic growth, and the development of creative industries.
The Head of the Intellectual Property Office of the Ministry of Economy of the RA Kristine Hambaryan presented the current situation in the field, ongoing programs, and planned directions for further cooperation with EUIPO. Upcoming initiatives were also presented, including the adoption of a new copyright and related rights law, the development of a national strategy for the development of the intellectual property sector, legislative initiatives on geographical indications, and the continued digitalization of the system.
During the meeting, activities planned for 2026 under the “EU4IP” program, as well as opportunities for developing bilateral cooperation, were discussed. It is noteworthy that Armenia joined the “EU4IP” program in the second half of 2025.
The Head of the Intellectual Property Office held a separate meeting with the President of EUIPO. The main discussions focused on enhancing the protection and enforcement of intellectual property rights, developing institutional capacities, and introducing international best practices. At the same time, the importance of the “EU4IP” program as a platform for cooperation, experience exchange, and joint solutions was emphasized.
During the visit, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between EUIPO and the Intellectual Property Office of the RA, elevating institutional cooperation to a new level.
