From March 30 to April 2, 2026, the 49th session of the Standing Committee on the Law of Trademarks, Industrial Designs and Geographical Indications of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) took place in Geneva, Swiss Confederation, with the participation of a representative of the Intellectual Property Office of the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Armenia.
During the session, topics such as trademark registration procedures, legal protection of well-known trademarks, geographical indications, country names, and industrial designs were discussed. Current issues in the field were also addressed, member states presented their experiences and initiatives, and possible directions for the development of legal regulations at the international level were outlined.
Within the framework of the event, the representative of the Republic of Armenia held a number of informal meetings with delegates from other countries, discussing the use of intellectual property tools, national experience, legislative developments, and practical approaches to improving trademark registration procedures, protecting well-known trademarks and geographical indications, as well as advancing international approaches to the legal regulation of industrial designs.
