On the margins of the 68th Series of Meetings of the Assemblies of the Member States of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), Ms. Kristine Hambaryan, Head of the Intellectual Property Office of the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Armenia, held a meeting with Mr. Hongbing Chen, Executive Director of the WIPO Academy.
The meeting focused on the progress and further steps related to the establishment of Armenia’s National Intellectual Property Training Center. It was noted that the process of establishing the Center was launched in 2023 based on the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the WIPO Academy and the Intellectual Property Office of the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Armenia. Within the framework of the initiative, two phases of the Training of Trainers programme were implemented, resulting in the qualification of 16 national trainers in the field of intellectual property. The parties also discussed the pilot training programmes planned for 2026, the first of which is scheduled to take place in Armenia in September.
The meeting also covered the training and capacity-building programmes offered by the WIPO Academy. Mr. Hongbing Chen noted that Armenia has good opportunities to be included in the programmes implemented by the WIPO Academy and to actively participate in them. He also reaffirmed the WIPO Academy’s readiness to continue supporting the development of intellectual property capacities in Armenia and the country’s further engagement in the Academy’s programmes.
