On the margins of the 68th Series of Meetings of the Assemblies of the Member States of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), Ms. Kristine Hambaryan, Head of the Intellectual Property Office of the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Armenia, held a meeting with Mr. Habip Asan, Director of the Division for Transition and Developed Countries (TDC) of WIPO.
The meeting focused on the programmes launched jointly with WIPO in 2025 and currently ongoing, as well as on the initiatives being implemented and planned within the framework of cooperation.
In particular, the parties discussed the project “Unveiling Value: Intellectual Property as a Driver for a Sustainable Armenian Wine Industry”, within the framework of which capacity-building activities and training programmes are being implemented, and the “Intellectual Property and Branding for Armenian Wine” guidebook is being developed.
The meeting also covered the international “IP4Apps Bootcamp” training programme launched in 2025, implemented in cooperation with WIPO, the Intellectual Property Office of the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Armenia, and the Armenian State University of Economics. The programme is aimed at developing knowledge and practical skills in the field of intellectual property among young developers and students.
The parties also addressed upcoming initiatives, including the “National Training on Intellectual Property (IP) Enforcement for Law Enforcement Officials”, scheduled to take place in Yerevan on 16–17 September 2026 and to be organized jointly by WIPO and the Intellectual Property Office of the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Armenia.
During the meeting, an agreement was reached that the Intellectual Property Office of the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Armenia will submit to WIPO, by the end of 2026, proposals for activities and programmes planned to be implemented with WIPO support in 2027, with the aim of defining the future areas of cooperation.
The parties emphasized the importance of further developing the effective cooperation established between the Republic of Armenia and WIPO and continuing the implementation of joint initiatives in the field of intellectual property.
