On the margins of the 68th Series of Meetings of the Assemblies of the Member States of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), Ms. Kristine Hambaryan, Head of the Intellectual Property Office of the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Armenia, held a meeting with Mr. Daren Tang, Director General of WIPO.

At the outset of the meeting, the Head of the Office congratulated Mr. Daren Tang on his re-election as WIPO Director General, wishing him success in carrying out his important mission and emphasizing Armenia’s readiness to further strengthen the effective cooperation established with WIPO. She also expressed appreciation to WIPO for its continued support in strengthening Armenia’s intellectual property system.

During the meeting, the key activities and ongoing programmes implemented in the field of intellectual property in Armenia were presented. In particular, discussions focused on the establishment of the National Intellectual Property Training Center in cooperation with the WIPO Academy, as well as capacity-building programmes implemented jointly with WIPO, including the National Training on Intellectual Property (IP) Enforcement for Law Enforcement Officials, scheduled to take place in Yerevan in September 2026.

The parties also discussed the ongoing efforts aimed at the digital transformation and modernization of the services of the Intellectual Property Office, as well as the progress achieved in the field of geographical indications.

Special attention was given to the potential Singapore–Armenia–WIPO cooperation framework in the areas of artificial intelligence, high-performance computing, research and development, innovation, and technology transfer. It was noted that Singapore’s experience could play an important role in the development of Armenia’s high-tech and innovation ecosystem. In this context, the potential cooperation with Nanyang Technological University was highlighted, with the aim of developing joint research and innovation programmes, as well as WIPO’s possible support in establishing such a cooperation framework.

The parties also discussed cooperation with the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) within the framework of the EU4IP project and emphasized the importance of further developing the effective partnership established between the Republic of Armenia and WIPO.
