The Ministry of High-Tech Industry of the Republic of Armenia, the Armenian Bar Association, jointly initiated a summit on the protection of intellectual property and the promotion of venture investments.

Kristine Hambaryan, Deputy Head of the Intellectual Property Agency, said in her speech that it is necessary to ensure effective protection of intellectual property rights.

"The Intellectual Property Agency also has a big role to play in this," he said. Speaking about the protection of computer programs in the field of intellectual property, Hambaryan said that the protection of copyright is done in a simple way.

According to the law on copyright և related rights, it is protected as a work from the moment of its creation, it does not depend on the official certification or registration of that right. "This means that the author acquires the right to the computer program from the moment of its creation; it does not imply registration," the Deputy Head of MSG emphasized.

Kristine Hamparian mentioned that the international protection of copyright happens automatically ․ The copyright objects are preserved in all the member states of the oldest international convention in Bern (Swiss capital).

"That is, unlike a patent, it is not necessary to keep it in all countries, it is automatic. The term of copyright protection is longer ․ "It operates throughout the life of the author, 70 years after his death," he emphasized.

Continuing the topic, Hambaryan said that unlike copyright, in order to preserve computer programs as an invention, it is necessary to preserve them in every country. "The computer program must comply with the terms of the patent of the invention ․ It must be new, have an inventive level and be industrially applicable. The licensing of the invention is quite expensive, requires a long process, the term of protection is shorter - up to 20 years, "said the deputy head of the agency.
