The Intellectual Property Office (hereinafter referred to as the Office) operates under the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Armenia. It carries out the state registration of industrial property objects, including inventions, industrial designs, trademarks and service marks, geographical indications, appellations of origin of goods, and topographies of integrated microcircuits. The Office issues patents and certificates as a result of these registrations and maintains state registers of the aforementioned objects. The Office also registers the transfer of rights to these objects and the granting of rights to use them—such as franchising—as well as licensing agreements, including open licenses. It provides consulting on copyright and related rights issues, ensures the training of personnel in the field of intellectual property, and performs other activities related to intellectual property.
The Office cooperates with relevant departments and international organizations of other countries and fulfills the obligations undertaken by the Republic of Armenia under international treaties.
Additionally, the Office implements legislative reforms aimed at improving the legal framework, enhancing the business environment, and promoting innovation and economic development.
